File to Field: Printing Multi-Trade Layout on the Deck
Against the record
FieldPrinter, from Dusty Robotics, is at stage 4 of 5 on our ladder: paying customers. Delivered and paid for, beyond pilots. The latest milestone on its record is from 10 Oct 2024: Dusty made FieldPrinter 2 generally available, and said contractors had printed more than 100 million square feet of layout with its robots.
This video comes from the maker's own channel, and makers show their robots at their best. The stage above comes from dated public records, not from the video.
From the video's description
Your model knows where every hanger goes. Your crew is looking at a bare slab. With Dusty, every trade's layout comes off one coordinated model (from Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD), so the framer and the electrician aren't working from two versions of the truth. Installation details print right where the work happens: hanger points, blocking, penetrations, annotations. And you control what information makes the cut. Layers, line styles and points let you send the field exactly what it needs and leave the rest in the model. That's what file to field means in practice. The coordinated design, at full scale, on the floor your crews are standing on. #MultiTradeLayout #FileToField #VDC #AutomatedLayout #AU2026
