Self-driving
Tesla changed its Referral Program so owners earned a free month of FSD (Supervised), a driver-assistance system needing constant attention, each time someone subscribed through their link, up to 12 times a year.
A dated step forward on the record
What the source says
“If a Tesla owner is on an FSD trial and uses a referral code to subscribe to Full Self-Driving, the person whose Referral Link was used will receive one month of FSD (Supervised).”
What it means
FSD (Supervised), from Tesla, is at stage 5 of 5 on our ladder: regulator-cleared or mass market. Its stage is set by other milestones on its record; this one adds to the history.
Human help: A person sits at the wheel, ready to take over.

- Turo said that from October 28, US renters could search for Teslas with FSD (Supervised) turned on, a driver-assistance system needing constant attention, with each car's status checked directly with Tesla.
- Tesla's AI vice president said Tesla was building its own maps from what its cars collectively learn, to fix FSD problems with speed limits, parking and choosing routes.
- Tesla said it expected unsupervised FSD, meaning customers' cars driving themselves with nobody paying attention, to reach customer cars in the middle of 2027, instead of its usual "end of next year" answer.
