You Can’t Always Turn the Part Over | Mantis™ Welds Anyway
Against the record
Hadrian X, from FBR (formerly Fastbrick Robotics), is at stage 4 of 5 on our ladder: paying customers. Delivered and paid for, beyond pilots. The latest milestone on its record is from Oct 2026: FBR's website offers Hadrian for purchase by selected partners, at a base price of A$7.8 million. It lists a top speed of 360 blocks an hour.
This video comes from the maker's own channel, and makers show their robots at their best. The stage above comes from dated public records, not from the video.
From the video's description
Mantis™ is moving into its demonstration phase, welding specific test pieces and general samples for visiting customers. Here it’s welded 2G horizontal groove welds and 3F fillet welds. Out-of-position welding is less productive than down hand, but it’s often needed in production because you can’t always turn the part over. Mantis™ still achieves high quality, with a rippled appearance and good penetration, using ceramic backing to close up the root gap.
